The GXV factory just completed remounting this Pangea on a rare very low mileage, exceptionally fresh 2001 Ford F550 XL that was owned by Florida government entity with only 26,000+/- miles since new, with the legendary 7.3 diesel (called the million-mile motor) during the final years before def fluids, catalytic converters were required. This vehicle can burn high sulfur fuel in Mexico and South America and is ready to travel the world without disabling emission equipment.

This Ford replaced the Mitsubishi truck the camper was originally fitted on with numerous advantages including nearly 100 hp gain, easier servicing thru Ford dealers, much lower repair costs.

The factory spent the summer reengineering the remount, fabricated a small pass/wiggle thru and checked camper systems. I spent $200,000 on it.

My plan was to use it for the next few years hunting and exploring, but at age 73 I m not travelling the extreme places I used to so this camper greatly exceeds my needs for luxury and ruggedness. Thus, I will offer it to someone who can use it as it was designed. I will probably get another Tiger Bengal or other “lighter duty” camper.

With the lowered roof this vehicle drives with much more stability in winds and corners than high profile vehicles. It can cruise at 75 mph and climbs mountain passes at freeway speeds. I have owned and enjoyed 4 Tigers (a Malayan and 3 Bengals}; an XP Camper, and, originally, an Alaskan. This GXV is in a league by itself in terms of ruggedness, insulation and use of marine components vs RV parts.

The Pangea is a marvel of engineering. Even in the lowered position the camper can be entered thru the pass thru or split rear door and the dinette and the bathroom accessed

This is the actual vehicle shown on GXV’s website when it was mounted on a Mitsubishi Fuso truck.

What GXV Says About the Pangea
Ship the Fuso Cab-Height Pangea-LT Lifting Roof Expedition Vehicle in a container to your next world travel destination. When in the lowered driving position, its sleek size provides aerodynamics and increased fuel economy. When stopped for the night, raise the roof to expose hard-side walls and dual-paned glass windows, which provide excellent insulation and protection from the outside elements.

Equipped with a large kitchen, 2-person dining (which makes into an auxiliary sleeping area), permanent sleeping for 2, and a wet-bath, the Pangea-LT Lifting Roof provides all amenities for world class travel. Cabin heat and hot water are provided with a diesel-fueled hydronic heater which also pre-heats the truck engine in cold weather.
